S.L.I.P. Grand Opening
On Thursday, May 25, 2006 Correctional Industries and the Department of Natural Resources held a Grand Opening ceremony for their new facility. The Washington State Light Industrial Park welcomed executive staff, city officials, board members, area neighbors, facility staff and families to the 39-acre complex. The afternoon began with a Washington Army National Guard flag raising ceremony. Speaking at the ceremony was Department of Corrections Secretary, Harold W. Clarke; Commissioner of Lands, Doug Sutherland; Director of Correctional Industries, Howard E. Yarbrough and Director of General Administration, Linda Villegas Bremer.
Following a ribbon cutting ceremony, guests were invited into the shared lobby of the new facility to enjoy light refreshments. Guests were also provided with tours of the three facility buildings, including Correctional Industries showroom, administrative offices and warehouse and Department of Natural Resources administrative offices, fire cache and radio shop.
