Working Together For Safe Communities
- FACT: Prison populations exploded in the 1990's due to changes in law
reflecting the public's increasing concern with crime... filling the prisons
and requiring more money for new prisons.
- FACT: 97% of all incarcerated offenders will return to local communities.
- FACT: One third of all released offenders will commit a new crime and be
back in prison within five years.
- FACT: The Washington State Department of Corrections research indicates
that offenders who participate in work programs are more likely
to succeed on the outside.
Through the CI program in Washington State, offenders are gaining skills, work ethics, and training to succeed on the outside and break the cycle of recidivism.
